May 2012 Recycling Drive

During the entire month of May 2012, in partnership with the Valley’s own Valley Center for Recycling Solutions, we will be accepting computer components, dead or alive, in the first ever Mat-Su Computer Recycling Drive. Drop offs from home users ONLY, will be accepted Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at our shop in the Crossroads Center Mall at the corner of Bogard Road and the Seldon Extension in Wasilla.

We will be accepting:

Desktop CPUs – Laptops & Notebooks – Keyboards & Mice – LCD & CRT Monitors – Cables and Cords

We will NOT be accepting:

Printers or Scanners
Televisions
Any other electronics

You’re one of thousands of PayPal users suffering from a known issue that PayPal is desperately trying to resolve, even as I type. Until that resolution has been implemented, PayPal recommends this temporary fix – modify your ‘host’ file – here’s how:

Start Notepad.exe as Administrator (right click the Notepad application icon, and choose “Run as Administrator”).
In Notepad, choose File > Open and browse to this location - C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
On the page that opens, copy and past the following text into the last line of that file: 127.0.0.1 102.112.2o7.net
Save the file. Close Notepad.
Close Outlook, if you didn’t previously. Reopen Outlook – all should be well!

Reports are coming in to the shop that a gentleman with a middle-eastern accent is calling people across the Mat-Su Valley, notifying folk that he has identified a virus on their computer, which he will repair for you if you’ll just ‘follow these simple steps’ to allow him to remote in to your computer.

This gentleman even called us here at the ITS Alaska Computer Services office! Consequently, I can tell you that his caller ID shows:
MB Enterprises at a number 786-439-0853.
