Is Microsoft your Friend?

stopMore and more clients have been coming to us recently for help with computer problems after receiving a ‘call from Microsoft, requesting remote access’ to their computer. And now that computer is acting ‘funny’ – everything from password lockouts to spyware symptoms.

A helpful question to ask yourself when Microsoft calls you is, did you call them first? If you did not call Microsoft and you are not expecting a call-back from them, they’re not really Microsoft. Microsoft does not make cold calls to ensure everything is going well in your world!

When in doubt, resist that urge to cooperate with authority figures and say ‘No thanks!’ politely (or not so politely), and hang right up.

Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle – Step 1!

monitorsFirst step in recycling is to REUSE!

2013 Recycle Drive resulted in 20 late model LCD monitors, various brands and models, that work. Not new, not sleek, but they have been tested, function, and they’re FREE. If you or someone you know wants or needs a 17″ or 19″ used LCD monitor … this is the place.

No calls, no emails.  Stop by ITS Computer Services in the mall at the corner of Seldon & Board Road, Wasilla between 10 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday.

Thanks everybody!

Recycling Drive Wraps Up

Our May 2013 computer equipment recycling drive has wrapped up, and the response from the community has been great! We could literally create an ‘History of Computing” exhibit from many of the items dropped off this year.

Our thanks to VCRS, who got the word out from Talkeetna to Sutton.

Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle!

Back by popular demand! We will be conducting another month-long computer recycling drive beginning May 1st. Dig that old computer, monitor, keyboards, cables & cords, and antique laptops out of the closet, attic, crawl space or garage and drop them off at our office during normal business hours.

This year we will be offering a 30% discount on a back-up of your data when you recycle the system or hard drive containing that information.

See our flyer below – or in the Frontiersman – or at VCRS Recycling Center – or on Facebook – for full details and the very few restrictions that apply.
